Are your kids ready for a dental visit?

Typically your child is ready at the age of three. At this visit he will be introduced to all the equiptment we use to clean his teeth. For instance Mr. thirsty(suction) and tickle brush(polisher) . We do not take xrays younger that five years old unless necessary.
It should be a fun and pleasant experience. a great idea is to introduce your child before his appointment. Read a book to him about dentistry, have him watch a sibiling get their teeth cleaned or a parent. The more they know the better the appointment will turn out.

Dental Fear

More people are afraid of the dentist than most. There are many things to reduce your stress, fear and anxiety while seeing the dentist. For instance communication is key. When you go for your first visit ask questions. Believe it or not we see people like you all day. You are not alone. Check out  the office. Is the office friendly and clean? Did you feel comfortable with the people operating the front desk, the hygienist ,the dental assistant, and the dentist? Make sure you were provided with a treatment plan so you are aware of all costs. Ask if you can bring an Ipod, or something to relax you during your treatment. Don't be afraid to speak up. We are catering to you and your comfort is important.

Bleaching

Bleaching is on everyone's mind lately. There are several ways to bleach your teeth. Over the counter products may work if your not too far to go to achieve your color. There is also bleaching trays that you actually do at home. A trip to the dentist office is required to make the trays and purchase the bleaching kit. The lower the percentage on the tube the stronger the material is. For a fast fix you can visit your dentist and have in house bleaching that cures to your teethe with a light. This is the most effective , quickest and expensive way to bleach. You may experience sensitivity during bleaching, however this is just temporary and will pass.
